Just as you enter downtown Nevada City, next to the historic National Exchange Hotel, you will find a gem of a store called Kitkitdizzi. The name, tricky to say at first, is the Maidu word for a fern-like plant endemic to the Yuba River Canyon. The owners are two locally raised women with an eye for style and a love of all things vintage. They have been best friends since kindergarten, are my dear friends, and hold a special place in many local hearts. I was fortunate enough to collaborate with them on a mural project in their shop at the end of 2017 - a nice large wall in the back of their store. On any given day, is not surprising to walk in a and find a customer, friend or nursing mother sitting on a vintage couch, looking around, daydreaming.
